Israel faces increasing condemnation following shooting incident during food aid delivery

At least 115 Palestinians were killed and hundreds more were wounded in Gaza as Israeli forces shot at hungry civilians waiting for aid delivery. Turkey, along with other countries, has condemned Israel for using starvation as a weapon of war. The Health Ministry in Gaza, run by Hamas, reported that many of the wounded were hit by gunfire, while Israel claimed that they only fired in self-defense when they felt endangered by the crowd. Calls for an independent investigation into the incident have been made by the United Nations and several countries. UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the attack, stating that the civilians were seeking life-saving aid. The number of Palestinians killed in Gaza has now surpassed 30,000 since the war began nearly five months ago. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire, with little aid entering the area, creating devastation and a lack of essential necessities for the residents. The UN has been unable to reach the northern part of the enclave for over a week, highlighting the urgent need for assistance for civilians in Gaza.
