Taco Mamacita at Hamilton Place, a new restaurant owned by Michael Monen, is set to open soon. Monen owns several other restaurants both in Chattanooga and Nashville that already have beer licenses. However, the application for a beer permit for the Hamilton Place location could not be voted on due to a lack of quorum during a recent meeting of the beer board.
The board requires five votes to pass a decision, but with one member unable to vote due to a conflict of interest, only four votes were possible at the meeting. This is the second attempt by Taco Mamacita at Hamilton Place to obtain a beer permit, with both attempts being stalled by the absence of a quorum.
Assistant City Attorney Kathryn McDonald explained that the city cannot require board members to attend meetings, as it is an all-volunteer board. To ensure that beer can be sold when the restaurant opens, a special meeting has been scheduled for March 15 at 9 a.m. The request for this special meeting was made by Teneley Brown, representing Mr. Monen.
Despite the setbacks in obtaining a beer permit, Taco Mamacita at Hamilton Place is looking forward to serving customers in the near future. The restaurant is known for its delicious tacos and margaritas, and the addition of beer to the menu will further enhance the dining experience for patrons. Stay tuned for the official opening date of Taco Mamacita at Hamilton Place.
