Seven people have been reported missing in southeastern France after severe weather caused violent storms and flooding overnight Saturday. Five individuals, including two children, were swept away by floodwaters while attempting to cross bridges by car in the Gard region. A father and his two children were carried away in Dions, while two others disappeared in Goudargues. The mother of the family in Dions was rescued and hospitalized. Additionally, a man is missing in Saint-Martin-de-Valamas, and a seventh person went missing in Gagnières after their car was swept away over a submerged bridge. The Minister of the Interior praised firefighters for their rescue efforts. An orange flood alert is still in effect in several regions, and all seven departments affected should remain under alert until Monday. Search and rescue operations are ongoing to find the missing individuals. The severe weather has caused widespread destruction and danger in the affected areas, prompting authorities to issue warnings and continue relief efforts.
