Rutherford County man arrested in connection to missing 7-year-old girl found safe in Texas after dayslong search.
Authorities confirmed that Iris Crum, 7, was found safe in Texas after going missing on March 1 in Murfreesboro. An Endangered Child Alert was issued for her on March 2 and upgraded to an AMBER Alert on March 8. Iris was believed to be with her non-custodial mother, Khaila Czereda, who was later arrested on charges of felony child abduction and custodial interference.
After Iris was found, it was reported that Khaila’s husband, Ethan Czereda, was charged with felony aggravated kidnapping, accessory after the fact, and false report/information to officers. He is being held on a $75,000 bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.
Detective Sgt. Joseph Duncan commended the efforts of law enforcement and the community for their assistance in locating Iris. He stated that it was a team effort between the TBI, the Sheriff’s Office, Texas officers, and partner law enforcement agencies across the country.
