Tennessee Horse Rescue awarded $100,000 from Bob Barker’s estate

Hohenwald, Tennessee – The Horse Plus Humane Society recently received a remarkable gift from the late Bob Barker’s estate. The rescue organization was informed that they will be receiving a generous sum of $100,000 in support of their cause. The Horse Plus Humane Society plans to use the funds to establish a low-cost Spay Neuter Clinic and an education center, in line with Barker’s advocacy for responsible animal ownership.

The organization, known as the world’s leading Horse Welfare Organization, has been caring for animals since 2003 and has helped over 12,000 animals over the years. Bob Barker, who passed away at the age of 99 in August 2023, had strong ties to the Ozarks, having graduated from Springfield High School.

Barker has donated a total of $3.1 million to Drury University to establish and support the interdisciplinary Animal Studies Program. His longtime friend and co-executor of his estate, Nancy Burnet, expressed pride in their work together to improve animal welfare.

Bob Barker, famous for hosting ‘The Price is Right’ for over 50 years, retired in 2007, leaving a legacy of advocacy for animals. The Horse Plus Humane Society is grateful for his support and plans to honor his memory by continuing their important work of caring for animals in need.
