Tennessee Senate approves bill prohibiting ‘chemtrails’: What you need to understand

The Tennessee Senate has passed a bill targeting chemtrails, known as SB 2691/HB 2063, which would ban the intentional dispersal of chemicals into the atmosphere for geoengineering purposes in the state. The bill has yet to advance in the House but is scheduled to be reviewed by the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.

Chemtrails are a conspiracy theory that claims the government is secretly adding toxic chemicals to the atmosphere from aircraft, similar to contrails. However, research groups like the one at Harvard University have debunked this theory, stating that there is no credible evidence for the existence of chemtrails or a large-scale geoengineering program.

Contrails, the white streaks left by planes in the sky, are simply water clouds resulting from jet exhaust and are not used for geoengineering. Solar geoengineering, which aims to reflect sunlight away from the Earth to combat rising global temperatures, has not been implemented as the technology does not yet exist.

Experts like climate scientist Alan Robock from Rutgers University and researchers at Harvard have emphasized that solar geoengineering would look different from contrails and require a complex system that does not currently exist. Therefore, claims of chemtrails being used for geoengineering purposes are unfounded.

The bill targeting chemtrails in Tennessee highlights the ongoing debate about the conspiracy theory and the need for accurate information about geoengineering practices.
