The body of missing University of Missouri student Riley Strain has been recovered from the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee. Strain had gone missing on March 8 after a night out with fraternity members. Despite initial speculations of foul play, police confirmed no trauma related to foul play was observed upon the recovery of the body. An autopsy was pending to determine the cause of death.
Search efforts had focused on the river, and Strain’s bank card was found along the Cumberland River embankment. Videos and encounters captured Strain’s movements on the night of his disappearance, including footage showing him interacting with a police officer shortly before he was last seen.
Strain’s family, including his mother and stepfather, were devastated by his disappearance and searched for answers as to what happened to him. Reports of possible druggings at Nashville bars raised concerns, but no evidence of foul play has been discovered.
The University of Missouri provided support to the family and authorities in the search for Strain, describing him as a 6’5″ tall student with blue eyes and light brown hair, and encouraged anyone with information to come forward. The recovery of Strain’s body brings a sense of closure to the family and the community, with further investigation ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
