Kenan Thompson, known for his work on Nickelodeon shows such as “All That” and “Kenan & Kel,” recently addressed the allegations surrounding former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider in the documentary “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.” The documentary sheds light on Schneider’s inappropriate behavior with child stars in the late ’90s and early 2000s. However, Thompson stated that he did not witness any of the allegations as they occurred after he left the network.
Thompson also mentioned that Schneider was not heavily involved in the shows he starred in, such as “Kenan & Kel,” and that most of the negative stories surfaced after he had left. Despite this, Thompson expressed sympathy for those who were victimized and commended them for speaking out. He suggested that Hollywood executives should investigate these matters more thoroughly to create a safer environment for children in the industry.
The documentary also includes claims from Drake Bell regarding sexual abuse by a voice coach. Nickelodeon released a statement expressing dismay over Bell’s trauma and reiterated their commitment to creating a safe workplace. However, Bell criticized the network’s response as “pretty empty,” suggesting they were aware of the incidents but failed to take substantial action. This situation highlights the ongoing concern of workplace harassment and the need for accountability in the entertainment industry.
