Juan Vicente Perez, the world’s oldest man, passed away at the age of 114 in Venezuela. He held the title of the oldest living man as confirmed by Guinness World Records at 112 years and 253 days. Perez credited his longevity to hard work, rest, early bedtime, a daily glass of strong liquor, belief in God, and carrying Him in his heart. Born in 1909, he was married for 60 years and had 11 children, 42 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Perez celebrated his 110th birthday in 2019 and lived through two World Wars and the COVID pandemic.

Freddy Bernal, the governor of Tachira where Perez lived, paid tribute to him as an archetype of a man from Tachira with qualities of humility, hard work, and family commitment. The next oldest living man is expected to be Gisaburo Sonobe of Japan at 112 years old.
