Tennessee Graduate Student Clement Ducos Sets New Personal Best in 400M Hurdles at Tennessee Invite
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Clement Ducos, a graduate student at the University of Tennessee, made a statement on the home track Friday night at the Tennessee Invite. Ducos set a new lifetime-best mark of 49.03 seconds in his first hurdle race of the season, establishing a new collegiate lead for 2024 and ranking third on the 2024 World Athletics Top List. His time also landed him in the No. 3 spot on the Tennessee all-time charts.
Ducos was joined by teammate Ja’Kwan Hale, who finished second in the event with a time of 50.16 seconds, ranking sixth on the NCAA Division I list and in the top 20 in the world for the outdoor season.
The Big Orange had an impressive showing at the Tennessee Invite, with five first-place finishes on Friday. This included a dominant performance by the Lady Vols in the 200-meter competition, where Kayla Sweeney led a 1-2-3-4 finish in the fastest heat of the night.
Other standout performances included Christopher Cherry’s victory in the men’s 1,500-meter, Sarah Schmitt’s performance in the women’s pole vault, and Kevin Burr Jr.’s win in the javelin throw. Additionally, UT athletes set six outdoor personal records during the competition.
The Tennessee Invite action will conclude on Saturday, with events starting at noon and wrapping up with the men’s 4×400-meter relay at approximately 4:45 p.m. Full results from the meet can be viewed at AdkinsTrak.com.
