A recent survey of 505 actively dating singles found that networking platforms like LinkedIn are the preferred method of setting up dates for individuals between the ages of 25 and 40. Around 61% of participants in the 35-40 age group prefer LinkedIn-like apps over other dating processes, including blind dates, dating websites, and social events. This method is also popular among those in the 25-34 age group.
Old-school methods of dating, such as blind dates arranged by friends or family members, are still prevalent, with nearly half of survey participants having been on a date set up by someone they know. This method is particularly popular among those ages 35 to 40.
The survey also explored some less common ways to meet potential partners, such as through language learning apps, sports clubs, and sexuality-exclusive apps. Other options included meeting at work events, fitness centers, and on social media apps.
Overall, the survey highlighted a shift towards using networking platforms and other unconventional methods to meet potential partners, indicating that traditional dating apps like Tinder and Hinge may have some competition in the dating scene.
