Mark Nichols, the well-known content creator behind the YouTube channel ‘Hobo Shoestring,’ has been found dead after going missing on March 27. His body was recovered from Boone Lake in Johnson City on Friday afternoon. Nichols, 53, had over 200k subscribers on his channel where he documented his cross-country train travels.

A Silver Alert was issued for Nichols on April 1 after he was last seen in Johnson City. Authorities confirmed his passing on Friday, with the Johnson City Police Department reporting that fishermen discovered his body near Knob Creek Dock Road. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.

Fans of Nichols took to social media to express their condolences and pay tribute to the content creator. Many remembered him as the “king of the rails” and praised his humble and honest nature. One fan wrote, “I will always love you. Rest well, brother, and save me a seat on that boxcar in the next world. My heart is broken.”

Another fan expressed sadness over the news, stating, “You had a gentle heart and a peaceful soul. May you now ride the silver rails in heaven. RIP Shoe String.” Nichols’ death has left a void in the online community, with many mourning the loss of a beloved content creator.
