Kim Caldwell has agreed to a five-year deal worth $3.75 million to become the Lady Vols basketball coach, making her the highest-paid coach in SEC history. Caldwell’s salary will be $750,000 annually, with the potential to become the nation’s highest-paid coach if she wins a national title. Tennessee would owe Caldwell 100% of her remaining base pay if she is fired without cause before March 31, 2025, and 50% after that date.
Caldwell is the fourth coach in Lady Vols history, replacing Kellie Harper. Harper was fired after failing to achieve significant success at Tennessee, despite making two Sweet 16 appearances in five seasons. Caldwell comes to Tennessee after leading Marshall to a successful season, where she won the Sun Belt regular-season and tournament titles.
Caldwell has a strong track record of success, with NCAA Tournament appearances in each of her eight seasons as a head coach, including a national championship in the 2021-22 season with Division II Glenville State. She has a proven ability to recruit talented players and lead teams to success, making her a promising hire for Tennessee.
