Country music star Morgan Wallen, 30, was arrested on felony charges for allegedly throwing a chair from a bar rooftop in Nashville on Sunday night. The incident occurred at country artist Eric Church’s bar, Chief’s, and Wallen faces three reckless endangerment charges and one disorderly conduct charge. The chair landed close to two officers on Broadway. Wallen’s lawyer confirmed the arrest and stated that the singer is cooperating with authorities. His bond was set at $15,250, and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 3. This occurred as Wallen kicked off his One Night At A Time Tour, with upcoming concert dates in Nashville on May 2 through May 4.
While Wallen faced legal trouble, his fellow country music colleagues celebrated wins at the Country Music Television Awards in Austin, Texas. Wallen was nominated for best male video of the year for “Last Night,” but the award went to Jelly Roll for “Need a Favor” instead.
This incident adds to Wallen’s recent controversies, which included his use of a racial slur that led to his suspension from several radio stations and award shows earlier this year. Despite the backlash, Wallen’s music continues to be recognized and celebrated in the country music industry. It remains to be seen how this recent arrest will impact his career and future tour dates.
