Missouri set to execute convicted double murderer | World News

Brian Dorsey, a Missouri man convicted of murdering his cousin and her husband, is set to be executed on Tuesday despite pleas for clemency. Dorsey, 52, killed Sarah and Ben Bonnie in 2006 after they took him in for the night to protect him from drug dealers. Dorsey’s attorneys argue that he has been fully rehabilitated during his time on death row. The Missouri Roman Catholic Bishops, prison officials, former Supreme Court justice, and Republican lawmakers have all called for clemency. Four executions have taken place in the US this year, with lethal injections being the common method. Capital punishment is abolished in 23 states, and governors in six states have put a hold on its use. Despite the appeals for clemency, Dorsey’s execution is still scheduled to proceed.
