Sister country music duo Walker County has recently released their debut album, Painted Ponies, independently after becoming frustrated with their label. Feeling like they were not able to be themselves, Ivy and Sophie Walker decided to break free and pursue their passion for music on their own terms. The album serves as a reintroduction to the sisters, who moved to Nashville as teenagers in pursuit of their music dreams. Initially overwhelmed by the music industry, they found a connection with writer/producer Paul Sikes, who collaborated with them on several songs. Despite feeling like their label did not fully support their music, Walker County decided to part ways and focus on rediscovering themselves. The songs on Painted Ponies reflect this journey and showcase their authentic sound. The sisters believe that country music is returning to its roots, and they are excited to be releasing music independently. They see this as a freeing and empowering experience, and are proud of the work they have put into the album. Despite the challenges they have faced, Ivy and Sophie are determined to stay true to themselves and continue pursuing their music career with faith and passion.
