Trigger, a golden retriever in Britain known as “The Dogfather,” is retiring after fathering over 300 puppies. He has been a star stud dog for Guide Dogs, a charity that pairs dogs with visually impaired individuals in the UK. Trigger has fathered 39 litters, with 294 puppies bred by Guide Dogs and 29 born from collaborations with other assistance dog charities. These puppies, called “Triglets,” have been helping visually impaired individuals across Britain, as well as in France and the Netherlands. Trigger’s gentle nature and excellent health have made him a valuable asset to the breeding program, with hopes that his son Billy will continue his legacy. Trigger will be officially adopted by his Breeding Dog Volunteer Sarah Byrne, who has cared for him for the past seven years. His impact on the lives of blind and partially sighted individuals has been significant, bringing independence and confidence through his offspring. Guide Dogs expressed gratitude for Trigger’s contributions and the positive influence he has had on their breeding program.
