Softball Secures Two Wins against UNCG and Claims First Place Position


The Chattanooga Mocs softball team secured a doubleheader victory against UNCG on Saturday, with a 6-3 win in the first game and a 6-5 victory in nine innings in the second game. Baileigh Pitts and Addy Keylon were standout performers for the Mocs, with Pitts hitting .625 for the day and coming one hit shy of a cycle, while Keylon hit two home runs, including the game-winner in the second match. Pitchers Peja Goold and Alyssa Lavdis also proved instrumental in securing the wins.

Chattanooga improved its record to 28-10 for the season and currently holds a 9-2 record in the Southern Conference, moving into first place. In the first game, the Mocs rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead over UNCG and never trailed again. Pitts had a stellar performance, going 4-for-4 with four RBI, while Goold and Lavdis contributed strong pitching performances.

In the second game, Keylon’s two home runs were crucial in securing the win for Chattanooga in extra innings. The Mocs pushed their lead to 5-1 in the fifth inning, but UNCG fought back to tie the game in the seventh with a pair of home runs. Keylon’s game-winning homer in the ninth ultimately sealed the victory for Chattanooga.
