Lady Vols Take Charge on Senior Day, Defeat Dores 4-0

The No. 17 Tennessee Women’s tennis team closed out its regular season with a dominant 4-0 shutout victory over in-state rival No. 30 Vanderbilt, extending their winning streak to six matches. Head coach Alison Ojeda praised her team’s growth and improvement since their previous meeting. The Lady Volunteers secured the opening point in doubles, with the duo of Esther Adeshina and Alana Wolfberg leading the charge. In singles, Wolfberg, Elza Tomase, and Adeshina clinched quick wins to secure the overall victory.

The win marked Tennessee’s ninth SEC win of the season and their fourth victory over Vanderbilt in the Ojeda era. The victory also marked their 10th sweep of the season and highlighted their doubles advantage. Seniors Sofia Cabezas, Alana Wolfberg, and others were celebrated during the senior day festivities. Up next, the Lady Volunteers will travel to Athens, Georgia, for the SEC Women’s Tennis Championship, where they have earned a double-bye and will face the winner of Auburn and Kentucky/Mississippi State.

With this win, the Tennessee women’s tennis program notched its 782nd victory, while Coach Ojeda recorded her 138th win during her tenure. The Lady Vols will look to continue their success in the upcoming tournament as they aim to build on their impressive regular season performance.
