Netanyahu asserts independence in the face of Biden’s snub: ‘Will stand alone if necessary’ | Global News

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a bold statement during a speech on Holocaust Remembrance Day, declaring that Israel will “stand alone” against Hamas if necessary. Despite international pressure to halt the Gaza war, Netanyahu emphasized that Israel will not back down and will defend itself against any threats. He also took a swipe at past instances where Jewish people were left defenseless during the Holocaust, stating that no nation came to their aid.

Netanyahu’s remarks came shortly after US President Joe Biden announced that the US would not provide offensive weapons to Israel for its assault on Rafah. The Prime Minister made it clear that no amount of pressure or international decisions will deter Israel from defending itself.

In response to the escalating conflict, thousands of residents in Rafah have been urged to evacuate to humanitarian zones outside the city to avoid potential attacks by the Israeli military. Hamas fired rockets from the area, targeting both the border crossing and areas where displaced Palestinians were taking shelter.

Netanyahu’s defiant stance underscores Israel’s determination to protect itself, even if it means standing alone. The ongoing conflict in Gaza continues to escalate, raising concerns about the humanitarian impact on civilians caught in the crossfire.
