Tennessee Softball earns No. 3 seed in 2024 NCAA Tournament: Check out the bracket details

The Tennessee softball team has made history once again by earning the No. 3 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, the highest in program history. The Lady Vols, who have advanced to the postseason for the 20th consecutive year, will host both the NCAA regional and super regional. Last season, as the No. 4 seed, Tennessee made it to the Women’s College World Series semifinals.

In the upcoming double-elimination regional at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium, the Lady Vols will face Dayton, Miami (Ohio), and Virginia. The winners will move on to the super regional, facing the winner of the Alabama regional. Tennessee finished the regular season ranked No. 2 and won back-to-back SEC regular-season championships for the first time in program history.

Coach Karen Weekly was named SEC Coach of the Year for the second straight season, and sophomore pitcher Karlyn Pickens won SEC Player of the Year, becoming only the second Lady Vol to receive the award. The team has had an impressive season, with a 40-10 record and a ranking of No. 7 in RPI. Tennessee has been a dominant force in the SEC, winning seven ranked opponents in conference play.

This tournament appearance marks the 21st overall for the Lady Vols, who have hosted 19 consecutive regional rounds in Knoxville. The team’s success and achievements this season are a testament to their dedication and hard work, as they aim to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament and bring home a national championship.
