Two people were killed and six others were injured in a shooting at a block party in Memphis, Tennessee. The shooting took place at Orange Mound Park where between 200 and 300 people had gathered for the event. Police are investigating the incident and are looking for at least two suspects who opened fire during the party. Authorities are asking anyone with video footage of the shooting to send it to Memphis Police and for anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers.
Interim Police Chief Cerelyn Davis stated that some victims were reported to investigators multiple times, leading to the initial report of 16 victims being shot. However, the correct number of victims is eight, with one victim already released from the hospital and one remaining in critical condition. The conditions of the other victims are not yet known.
Davis denounced the violence, calling it senseless, and urged the community to come forward with any information that may help in the investigation. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
