Woman from Sevier County celebrates 100th birthday


Mildred Imogene Baker celebrated her 100th birthday on May 12th in Sevierville, Tennessee, on Mother’s Day. She discussed her love for Jesus, family, and the Vols football team, of which she has a photo of the coach. Mildred credits her long life to healthy living and abstaining from alcohol and smoking. She emphasized the importance of family and credited her parents for raising her and her sisters right. Two of her sisters, Dorothy and Helen, also in their 90s, joined in the celebration and are known as the “Golden Girls” for their active lifestyle. The sisters shared memories of their childhood and emphasized the importance of faith in their lives. Mildred expressed contentment with her life and stated her only remaining destination is heaven. The celebration highlighted a long life lived well, with love, faith, and family at the forefront.
