Three people are dead after a small plane crashed in Williamson County, Tennessee on Wednesday. The plane, identified as a single-engine Beechcraft V35, had departed from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was en route to Louisville, Kentucky when it crashed near Leiper’s Fork, approximately 30 miles south of Nashville. Williamson County Chief Deputy Mark Elrod stated that the plane appeared to have broken up in the air, resulting in a debris field that is more than a mile long. Thankfully, no structures were reported damaged in the crash.
Jill Burgin, spokesperson for the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency, confirmed that they received a 911 call reporting a possible plane crash around noon. The caller heard a sound and saw debris, but did not provide further details. The names of the victims have not been released as of yet.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board are currently investigating the crash. The FAA has confirmed the type of plane involved in the incident. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the risks associated with air travel and the importance of thorough investigations to determine the cause of such accidents.
