Three people tragically lost their lives in Franklin, Tennessee, after a small plane crashed in the area of Bending Chestnut Road and Davis Hollow Road on Wednesday, May 15. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that a single-engine Beechcraft V35 was involved in the crash and that the aircraft experienced an in-flight break up over a half-mile radius. The FAA and NTSB are currently investigating the incident.
During a press briefing, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mark Elrod stated that there were no survivors from the crash and that it appeared the plane broke up in the air. The debris field left behind by the crash is described as rather large. The plane was reportedly en route to Louisville, Kentucky, after departing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Although the victims have not been publicly identified, reports indicate that there was no damage to any structures in the area. The Williamson County Emergency Management Agency responded to a 911 call reporting the crash and worked in unified command with local authorities to coordinate search efforts and media requests.
The tragic incident has deeply impacted the community, with agencies expressing condolences to the families of the victims. Further information will be released by the NTSB officials as the investigation progresses.
