Kim Caldwell from Marshall to be hired as Tennessee’s women’s basketball coach

Tennessee has named Kim Caldwell as the new head coach for the women’s basketball team, following her successful season at Marshall where she earned several coaching honors. The Thundering Herd had an impressive record under Caldwell and made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in over two decades. Athletic director Danny White expressed confidence in Caldwell’s ability to restore the Lady Vols to national prominence, praising her winning coaching style. Caldwell steps in for Kellie Harper, who was let go after five seasons that failed to meet the program’s expectations. In her acceptance statement, Caldwell acknowledged the legacy of former Tennessee coach Pat Summitt and the responsibility she feels in continuing the Lady Vol tradition. Caldwell, who previously led Glenville State to a national championship, will be formally introduced at a press conference on Tuesday. Tennessee fans are hopeful that Caldwell’s coaching talents will lead the women’s basketball team back to success in the upcoming seasons.
