British actor Rupert Friend has joined the cast of the upcoming Jurassic World film, set to be directed by Gareth Edwards and also starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey. The plot details of the film, penned by original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp, are being kept under wraps. Production is set to begin in mid-June in London with a tight post-production turnaround for a July 2, 2025 release date.
Friend, known for his roles in Wes Anderson films and the Star Wars Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, has become a key part of the Anderson troupe of actors. He recently wrapped up a sci-fi thriller Companion and will be seen in Michel Franco’s drama Dreams alongside Jessica Chastain. Friend is represented by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment, and Hansen Jacobson.
Producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, who have shepherded the modern Jurassic franchise, will produce the film through Kennedy-Marshall. Steven Spielberg, who started the franchise with Jurassic Park in 1993, will serve as an executive producer through Amblin Entertainment. The project is being overseen by Universal Pictures’ Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated Jurassic World feature.
