Moscow’s advance into Kharkiv claims 7 lives in Russian missile attack

At least sixteen people were injured in a Russian missile attack on the city of Kharkiv in Ukraine, as Kremlin forces continue to capture villages in the area. The attack, which killed at least seven civilians, comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy describes it as “extremely brutal” and highlights Russia’s advantage in lacking air protection. The push by Moscow’s troops in recent weeks is seen as Ukraine’s biggest test since the full-scale invasion. Ukrainian forces are being pushed back as Russia targets their power grid and civilian areas.

Ukraine’s urgent need for more US-made Patriot systems was emphasized by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who noted that while Germany has pledged one, six more are critical for Ukraine’s survival and peace in Europe. President Zelenskyy identified Kharkiv and the Donetsk region as main hotspots in recent fighting, where Russian forces claim to have taken control of settlements and made advances in surrounding areas. Independent verification of these claims is not possible at this time.

The international community is closely watching the situation in Ukraine as tensions escalate between Russia and Ukraine. The ongoing conflict has resulted in civilian casualties and forced thousands to flee their homes, underscoring the urgent need for a diplomatic resolution. As the fighting continues, both sides are bracing for further clashes, with the fate of Ukraine hanging in the balance.
