11-Year-Old Girl Successfully Completes Studies at Southern California Community College

Eleven-year-old Athena Elling recently graduated from Irvine Valley College in California with an associate’s degree in liberal arts, earning cum laude honors. She follows in the footsteps of her brother Tycho, who graduated from the same college at the age of 11 the year before. The family consulted with college counselors to ensure Athena could also achieve this milestone.

Athena’s mother, Christina Chow, shared that the community college allowed her daughter to explore various interests, from wanting to be a divorce attorney to an actor. Athena, who holds a second-degree black belt in taekwondo, also studies acting and dance outside of college. She credits the diverse community at the college for inspiring her and teaching her valuable lessons.

Despite her young age, Athena has ambitious plans to pursue multiple other associate’s degrees and expand her knowledge. She has already requested to have her credit limit lifted to take more diverse classes and credits in the future. Athena’s advice to her fellow graduates is simple: “Just never give up.”

Athena’s determination and love for learning have propelled her to achieve a significant milestone at a young age, reflecting her strong work ethic and supportive family. Her unique journey serves as an inspiration to others to pursue their passions and never stop striving for success.
