A train derailed in Lafollette, Tennessee, causing approximately a mile of railway tracks to be destroyed due to a broken metal frame supporting a bridge. The incident occurred at the West Central Avenue crossing, blocking crossings at Nevada Avenue and South Avenue. Fortunately, no hazardous materials were spilled, and no injuries were reported. Images show train cars toppled off the tracks and damaged railroad ties, with the Ivydale bridge showing a large crack in the supporting beam. CSX is on the scene working to clear the damage, and authorities estimate it will be cleared within the next two to three days. Residents in the area near the derailment can still access their homes via alternate streets, and officials are advising the public to stay away from the train due to the presence of flammable and corrosive liquids in some of the cars. The cause of the bridge support failure is still under investigation.
