The University of Tennessee has made a big addition to their men’s basketball team with the signing of North Florida transfer guard Chaz Lanier. The 6-foot-4 guard was a standout player in the ASUN conference, earning First Team All-ASUN honors and NABC First Team All-District 3 accolades. Lanier averaged 19.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in his senior season, showcasing his scoring ability and efficiency on the court.
Head coach Rick Barnes expressed excitement about Lanier joining the team, noting his character, work ethic, and basketball IQ. Lanier, a Nashville native, is thrilled to return to his home state and help the Volunteers compete for an SEC championship and national title. His impressive shooting percentages and scoring prowess make him a valuable addition to the team.
In addition to his on-court success, Lanier is also a standout in the classroom, earning academic honors during his college career. With experience playing against top competition and a strong family basketball background, Lanier brings a well-rounded skill set to the Volunteers.
Lanier joins a talented group of newcomers at Tennessee for the 2024-25 season, including high school guard Bishop Boswell, transfer guard Darlinstone Dubar, transfer forward Igor Miličić Jr., and transfer forward Felix Okpara.
