No. 1/1 Tennessee continues their dominance in the Southeastern Conference Tournament, defeating rival Vanderbilt 6-4 in the semifinals. Zander Sechrist’s strong pitching performance and Christian Moore’s powerful hitting propelled the Volunteers to victory, improving their record to 49-11. Sechrist earned the win with six innings of work, allowing only two runs. Moore’s 441-foot home run in the sixth inning proved to be the decisive blow in a back-and-forth game.
Cannon Peebles and Kavares Tears also contributed offensively for Tennessee, while Marcus Phillips secured his third save of the season with three scoreless innings. Vanderbilt’s Luke Guth took the loss after giving up three runs in relief.
Tennessee will now face LSU in the SEC Tournament Championship, aiming for their fifth title and second under head coach Tony Vitello. The Vols last won the tournament in 2022. The championship game will be televised on ESPN2 at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday.
With a chance to add another trophy to their collection, Tennessee will look to maintain their momentum and bring home another SEC Tournament title.
