Tornado warning issued for East Tennessee as storms approach

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Knox County and surrounding areas until 4 p.m. today, with potentially severe storms expected in East Tennessee. The hazardous weather outlook for the region includes two rounds of severe storms, the first of which is expected to hit mainly north of Interstate 40 by 7 p.m. This storm may bring damaging winds of up to 70 mph, large hail, and possible tornadoes. The second storm is forecasted to occur overnight between midnight and 5 a.m., with similar risks of damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes. The weather service has also warned of the possibility of localized flooding in some areas due to heavy rainfall. Residents in these areas are advised to stay informed, be prepared, and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during these severe weather conditions.
