Tornado warning issued for East Tennessee as storms approach


The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Knox County and surrounding areas until 4 p.m. today, with potentially severe storms expected in East Tennessee. The hazardous weather outlook for the region includes two rounds of severe storms, the first of which is expected to hit mainly north of Interstate 40 by 7 p.m. This storm may bring damaging winds of up to 70 mph, large hail, and possible tornadoes.
