New York City man accused of multiple assaults indicted on hate crime charges

Skiboky Stora, a Brooklyn resident, has been indicted on hate crime charges in New York City for a series of assaults on strangers based on their gender, race, and religion. The Manhattan District Attorney announced the charges, stating that Stora committed hate-motivated incidents between September 2023 and March 2023. The most recent attack on a 23-year-old woman in Chelsea gained attention after she posted about it on TikTok. Influencer Halley McGookin, known as “Halley Kate,” tearfully described an incident where Stora allegedly punched her in the head. Another incident involved a Jewish couple who saw Stora tearing down posters and were harassed with anti-white and antisemitic remarks. Stora has also been accused of elbowing a 17-year-old White student and a fair-skinned woman, causing them pain and bruising.

Stora, who has run for political office as a fringe candidate, lost a City Council bid to Yusef Salaam, one of the “Central Park Five.” The investigation into Stora’s alleged hate crimes is ongoing, with prosecutors seeking justice for the victims. The incidents have raised concerns about safety and acceptance in the city, with calls for respect for all individuals regardless of their identity. Stora faces charges including third-degree assault, stalking, and aggravated harassment as hate crimes, reflecting the severity of his actions and the impact they have had on the community.
