Tennessee is falling behind in planting, according to Brownfield Ag News.

Recent reports from the USDA show that Tennessee farmers are facing delays in planting due to continued wet weather. Corn planting is at 87 percent, with 67 percent already emerged. Soybeans are at 60 percent planted and 45 percent emerged, while cotton is at 68 percent planted and only 2 percent squared.

Despite the delays, winter wheat progress is ahead with 98 percent headed, 81 percent coloring, and 14 percent mature, with a high rating of 80 percent good to excellent. Pastures are also in good condition, rated at 76 percent good to excellent despite the rain.

Both topsoil and subsoil moisture levels in Tennessee are at 99 percent adequate to surplus, providing some relief for farmers dealing with the wet conditions. The delayed planting progress is a concern for farmers as they try to catch up to the planting schedule and ensure a successful harvest season.

Overall, the state of Tennessee is facing challenges in getting crops planted on time due to the wet weather, but farmers remain optimistic about the upcoming harvest season. The USDA will continue to monitor crop progress and provide updates as the planting season progresses.
