Chattanooga is welcoming two new restaurants to the scene – Riverport Grille and El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant. Riverport Grille, located at 224 Broad Street, is a full-service, family-friendly restaurant with a seating capacity of over 200 people. Owned by John McClellan and Kane Weathers, the establishment will focus on food sales with a 70/30 split in favor of food over beer and liquor. El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant, owned by Jose Manuel Zaragoga, is located at 7601 East Brainerd Road and will feature a beer license for patrons. Both restaurants are committed to responsible alcohol service and will be implementing age verification procedures.
In addition to the restaurant scene, a new Food City grocery store is set to open at 1375 Broad Street. The 53,000 square foot store will feature a large fresh area and conform to Chattanooga’s Form Based Code. The opening will be accompanied by townhouses and retail store fronts on 13th Street, with plans for additional stores in Phase 2.
McCamey Animal Center recently held their annual “Paw Palooza” event at Coolidge Park, attracting over 1,000 attendees with rescue groups, vendors, and dog agility contests. The event featured a beer garden with contributions from Chattanooga Brewing, Naked River Brewing, Hutton and Smith, and Five Witts. The Dream will be hosting the “Stop the Violence Summer Fest” on June 29 at 2308 Glass Street, with licensed security guards on hand to ensure a safe environment for attendees.
