The Tennessee baseball game against Evansville was delayed due to lightning in Game 3 of the Knoxville Super Regional. The No. 1 Vols and the Purple Aces were set to start at 6 p.m. ET but were delayed until 7:06 p.m. due to the weather. Tennessee won the opener on Friday, while Evansville came back to win on Saturday, tying the series.
This is the first rain delay at Lindsey Nelson Stadium this season and the final home game for Tennessee. The game was delayed as Evansville was taking batting practice and heavy rain began to fall in Knoxville. Fans were evacuated from the ballpark, but were eventually allowed to reenter as players returned to the field.
Tennessee is playing for their third College World Series appearance in the past four seasons under coach Tony Vitello. The Vols reached Omaha in 2021 for the first time since 2005, and again in 2023. They are the No. 1 national seed this season, aiming to make it back to the College World Series after falling short in 2022.
