Juneteenth celebration to be held in Greeneville this weekend | WJHL


The Town of Greeneville in Tennessee is gearing up to host its third annual Juneteenth celebration this weekend. The event, which is free to attend, is made possible by the generous support of sponsors. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to sit on during the festivities.

Taking place on Saturday, June 15 from 4-7 p.m., the Juneteenth celebration will be held at Bicentennial Park and the Big Spring behind the Greeneville Greene County Library. The event promises to be a fun and educational experience for all who attend.

Sierra Miller and Christina Potts from the Town of Greeneville provided all the details on the upcoming Juneteenth celebration during a recent interview with News Channel 11. In addition to the festivities, Keep Kingsport Beautiful will also be hosting a garden tour later this month, showcasing the beauty of the local flora.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, celebrates the anniversary of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States.
