Residents of Dandridge, Tennessee, recently came together to rescue a large, white fluffy dog that had been wandering the town for weeks. The dog, named Gaut after the road where he was found, was in desperate need of help with a broken leg and was hungry and scared.
Local animal advocate Leia Hyder led the rescue efforts, raising funds for Gaut’s medical treatment. After finally capturing Gaut, he was taken to a local animal hospital where it was discovered he needed surgery and ongoing care.
Hyder turned to social media to raise funds for Gaut’s medical bills, and the response was overwhelming. Donations poured in from across the country, totaling around $7,000 to cover his medical expenses.
With the support of the community, Hyder is now working with Lena Sprowl to find Gaut a loving family to adopt him. Despite his injuries, Gaut has shown a friendly and resilient spirit, earning him the nickname “Sweet Giant Beast.”
Thanks to the generosity of the people of Dandridge and beyond, Gaut now has a chance at a happy and healthy life with a new family willing to provide him with the care he needs.
