Alternative ways to celebrate without fireworks


Looking to celebrate Independence Day without the loud fireworks? Memphis has a variety of fireworks-free events planned for the Fourth of July this year. From parades to live music, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The Central Gardens Association will be hosting their annual July 4th Parade on York Avenue, starting at 9 a.m. The event will feature family-friendly activities, live music, and refreshments. MemPops will also be there offering free pops with the option to purchase more.

In Cooper-Young, a family-friendly parade will begin at Peabody Elementary School at 10 a.m., with face painting and kid-oriented activities.

Cordova will host an Independence Day Celebration and Parade, starting with a patriotic program at 9:30 a.m. followed by a parade at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best patriotic attire and decorations.

The High Point Terrace Neighborhood Parade, the longest-running parade in Memphis, will take place at 9 a.m. Participants can follow a fire truck and enjoy frozen pops at the end.

Overton Square will host their Independence Celebration on June 29th with live music, face painting, and vintage fire trucks from the Fire Museum.

These events offer a fun and festive way to celebrate Independence Day without the need for loud fireworks. Check out one of these local events to join in the Fourth of July fun.
