Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has accepted an invitation to participate in a vice presidential debate on October 1 hosted by CBS News. The invitation was extended to both presidential campaigns, but it is unclear if Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate, will be participating in the debate in New York City.
The Donald Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment on the matter. Governor Walz confirmed his participation by responding to CBS with a message saying, “See you on October 1, JD.”
CBS News provided both campaigns with four possible dates for the debate, including September 17, September 24, October 1, and October 8. The presidential debate between Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is scheduled for September 10 and will be hosted by ABC News.
The first presidential debate took place on June 27, hosted by CNN, and resulted in President Joe Biden suspending his campaign due to a disastrous performance. This incident shook the confidence of the Democratic party in Biden’s ability to defeat Trump in the upcoming election.
The upcoming vice presidential debate between Governor Walz and Senator Vance promises to be a crucial event in the lead-up to the election, providing voters with an opportunity to see the candidates discuss important issues facing the nation.
