Residents of Dolton, Illinois are calling for the resignation of Mayor Tiffany Henyard, accusing her of acting like a dictator.
On Thursday night, a group of protesters gathered outside the Dolton Village Hall to demand Henyard step down from her position. The crowd held signs saying “Henyard Must Go” and chanted for the mayor to resign.
The protest comes after Henyard faced backlash for a controversial decision to remove the village’s finance director, Dreda Mitchell, who had been with the village for nearly 30 years. Many residents believe Mitchell was unfairly targeted by the mayor and are unhappy with the lack of transparency surrounding the decision.
