743,000 vehicles recalled including BMW and Tesla

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued several recalls last week, including over 720,000 BMW vehicles due to a water pump malfunction that could cause a fire. Tesla also recalled 9,136 2016 Model X vehicles for roof trim separation. For BMW recalls, 1,150 2024 i4 vehicles are being recalled for a left-side beam crack, while 12,535 2020-2024 MINI Hardtop 2 Door (Cooper SE) vehicles are being recalled for a battery issue that may cause a short circuit.

For the BMW water pump malfunction recall affecting 720,796 vehicles from 2012-2018, including models like X1, X3, X4, and X5, an improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump could short circuit and increase the risk of fire. Owners can check the USA TODAY or NHTSA databases for recalls on their vehicles. BMW dealers will inspect and replace the water pump and plug connector and install a protective shield for free. Recall notification letters will be sent on Oct. 4.

For the Tesla roof trim separation recall, Tesla service will test and reattach the trim pieces for free, with recall notification letters to be sent on Oct. 14. Owners can contact Tesla customer service for more information. It is essential for owners of the affected vehicles to respond promptly to the recall notices to ensure their safety and the proper functioning of their vehicles.
