Sean “Diddy” Combs has been ordered to pay a $100 million default judgment in a sexual assault case. The lawsuit was filed by a former personal chef, Cindy Rueda, who accused the music mogul of forcing her to perform sexual acts and retaliating against her when she refused. The judgment was entered against Diddy after he failed to respond to the lawsuit or appear in court.
Rueda alleged that the assaults occurred in 2015 when she was working for Diddy as a chef at his Los Angeles home. She claimed that he repeatedly made unwanted sexual advances towards her and forced her to perform sexual acts on him against her will. The lawsuit also accused Diddy of creating a hostile work environment and retaliating against Rueda when she rejected his advances.
Diddy denied the allegations and claims that he was never properly served with the lawsuit. His legal team has stated that they plan to appeal the judgment and are confident they will prevail in court. However, the court found in favor of Rueda when Diddy did not respond to the lawsuit or appear in court, leading to the default judgment.
The $100 million judgment includes $1 million in compensatory damages and $99 million in punitive damages. It is one of the largest judgments of its kind in a sexual assault case. Rueda’s attorney stated that they hope the judgment will send a message to other powerful individuals that they cannot abuse their power and mistreat their employees. The case is a reminder of the importance of holding individuals accountable for sexual misconduct, regardless of their fame or wealth.
