After a lackluster performance in Tuesday night’s ABC News presidential debate, Republican nominee Donald Trump has announced that he will not participate in any more debates with Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris before the Nov. 5 election. Despite initial polls showing Harris as the winner of the debate, Trump claimed victory and likened Harris’ call for a rematch to that of a boxer who had lost a fight. He argued that Harris should focus on solving the country’s issues rather than calling for another debate. In response, Harris reiterated her call for another debate, stating that they owe it to the voters to have another discussion.
The decision not to participate in any more debates comes after arguments from Trump and his allies that the ABC News debate moderators were biased in favor of Harris. Despite this, the polls showed that the majority of respondents believed that Harris had won the debate. However, there will be one more debate between the vice presidential nominees, U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, scheduled for Oct. 1 in New York City.
This announcement comes after Trump’s previous debate with President Joe Biden in June, which ultimately led to his poor performance and subsequent exit from the race. The ongoing debates highlight the importance and impact of these political discussions on the upcoming election on Nov. 5.
