Harris introduces extensive Medicare program for in-home long-term care in Tennessee

Vice President Kamala Harris unveiled a plan to improve Medicare coverage by including long-term care for seniors in their homes, addressing a key issue in U.S. healthcare. The proposal targets the “sandwich generation,” who care for children and aging parents. Medicare would cover at-home health benefits, hearing, and vision care, funded by drug price negotiations and addressing fraud. The campaign did not provide a cost estimate but highlighted potential savings and revenues.

In response, the Trump campaign criticized Harris, citing previous policies like Medicare Advantage. Harris also made headlines for calling Trump an “unserious man” and criticizing his Supreme Court nominations, particularly regarding abortion rights. She did not disclose a preference for a Republican cabinet member but praised former Rep. Liz Cheney.

Meanwhile, Trump labeled Harris as “grossly incompetent” and criticized her interview on “60 Minutes.” Both campaigns have upcoming events, with Harris appearing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and a Univision town hall in Las Vegas, while Trump will participate in events in Pennsylvania. Trump had events in Miami postponed due to Hurricane Milton.

Harris’s proposal aims to enhance Medicare coverage and support caregivers, while the campaigns engage in back-and-forth exchanges and election preparations. The candidates continue their efforts to connect with voters and address key issues facing the nation in the lead-up to the November elections.
