“Mountain Strong Sanctuary” is a new non-profit organization that was created just a month ago by a group of individual volunteers who wanted to make a difference in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. They have already assisted 40 families who were displaced by the hurricane, delivering essentials and working to clear land for temporary and permanent housing. The founders, Stefan Fox and Daniel Ertel, saw a need for more support for those affected by the hurricane and decided to take action. They have set up a campground in Waynesville, NC and are now working on a property in Hot Springs to provide housing for families in need. Despite the cold weather, they are working tirelessly to ensure that no Helene victims are left without a warm place to stay. The organization has received support from people all over the country who have donated funds and supplies. They estimate that the Hot Springs property will be ready in a few days with more permanent housing being completed in a few months. Those interested in getting involved can find more information on their Facebook page. Mountain Strong Sanctuary is a shining example of grassroots efforts coming together to make a real impact in the community.
