In a highly anticipated matchup between the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers, Georgia emerged victorious with a 31-17 win. After falling behind 10-0 in the first quarter, Georgia rallied to score 31 unanswered points over the remaining three quarters. Quarterback Carson Beck led the charge for the Bulldogs, throwing for 346 yards and two touchdowns while also adding a rushing score. Despite missing key players due to injuries, Georgia’s offense clicked as Beck spread the ball around to 10 different receivers.
Tennessee struggled to generate explosive plays and failed to score any points in the second half. Running back Dylan Sampson posted 101 yards and a touchdown, but quarterback Nico Iamaleava was held to just 167 yards passing with zero touchdowns. Georgia sealed the win with a dominant drive in the fourth quarter, consuming over six minutes of clock time to travel 92 yards and score a touchdown.
The victory marked the first time this season that Tennessee’s defense allowed more than 20 points. Georgia also showcased its resilience, boasting a 6-6 record when facing double-digit deficits over the past five seasons. With the win, Georgia remains in contention in the College Football Playoff race. Tennessee, on the other hand, continues to struggle offensively, with Iamaleava failing to surpass 200 yards passing in six of seven SEC games this season.
