Suspension of six additional tennis players due to their connection with a match-fixing syndicate

Six more tennis players linked to a match-fixing syndicate in Belgium have been suspended and fined by the International Tennis Integrity Agency. The syndicate, run by Grigor Sargsyan, has now resulted in about 30 players being punished. The most severe punishment was handed to Agustin Moyano of Argentina, who was suspended for 15 years and fined $10,000. The other players involved admitted to rules breaches related to matches played in 2017-2018 and received suspensions ranging from two years to five years, seven months. This includes David Guez, Jerome Inzerillo, Romain Bauvy, Yannick Jankovits, and François-Arthur Vibert.

Guez, who reached a career-best ranking of 116 in 2010, accepted a four-year ban and a $25,000 fine. He has not played an official match since 2018 but has made over $800,000 in prize money during his career. The suspensions come in the wake of Sargsyan being sentenced to five years in custody. Moyano, denying the charges against him, requested a full hearing but ultimately received the longest suspension of 15 years. The players were found to have breached rules related to match-fixing activities coordinated by the syndicate. This recent announcement adds to the ongoing efforts of the tennis industry to crack down on corruption and uphold the integrity of the sport.
