Tennessee Traffic Stop Reveals Suspected Human Trafficker with Gang Connections
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released body camera footage from a November 2022 traffic stop involving Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, 29, a suspected human trafficker with ties to the MS-13 gang. The footage, obtained through a public records request by Fox News Digital, shows Abrego-Garcia pulled over for speeding while carrying eight male passengers in his vehicle.
During the stop, troopers expressed suspicion regarding the number of people in the car, indicating that they believed he might be transporting them for money. Comments captured on video reveal that troopers discussed contacting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) about the incident. Notably, a warning regarding Abrego-Garcia’s potential gang affiliations appeared when his name was checked in the National Crime Information Center.
At the time of the stop, Abrego-Garcia was found with $1,400 in cash and an invalid Maryland driver’s license. His inconsistent statements raised further suspicions, as he provided varying accounts of his travel intentions—first claiming he was returning to Maryland, then stating he was heading to another town for work.
Abrego-Garcia, originally from El Salvador, entered the U.S. illegally in 2011 and had been issued a deportation order in 2019. He was deported to El Salvador in March and previously faced allegations of domestic violence filed by his wife, who described him as a “violent” individual.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the traffic stop, with implications that it may reveal broader human trafficking operations. The case highlights ongoing concerns about illegal immigration and gang activity in the United States.
Fox News will provide further updates as more details emerge.
